i can't believe that i couldn't sleep last night because i was too excited.

but anyway met nette, eunice and pat at 630 and walked to school.
and the dear aunty unlocked our class doors so late,
making our exceptionally early trip to school a waste.
thankfully i managed to wear my yukata in time for flag raising too.
though i was sweating buckets.

my day was kind of ruined by a teacher whose name is not worth mentioning here.
she apparently has some kind of problem, you know,
like having great difficulty being sane and reasonable.
wonder how she managed to get such a high position in our school.
but anyway not a single thing was mentioned in the guidelines that ONLY, and i repeat,
ONLY chinese, malay and indian costumes were allowed.
ohyes, and i think she has great difficulty understanding the definition of the term RACE.

definitions of the word RACE:

1. A great division of mankind, characterized as a group by the sharing of a certain combination of features, which have been derived from their common descent, and constitute a vague physical background, usually more or less obscured by individual variations, and realized best in a composite picture.
2. An aggregate of phenotypically similar populations of a species, inhabiting a geographic subdivision of the range of a species, and differing taxonomically from other populations of the species.

whichever of those 3 definitions you choose,
they all say that a race is a set of people.
and racial harmony day would thus mean the commemoration of peace among any race,
not just the 4 main ones in sunny island singapore.
true enough, we must remember the racial riots,
but if that's the main point that you want to bring across during cedar's racial harmony day,
SAY SO.
but nothing was said, so i don't see why the huge fuss that came only from YOU.

be grateful that at least we came in traditional costumes of other races.
but if its still such a hard thing to come to terms with,
the very least you could have done was to let us off.
ALTHOUGH WE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG.
i'm pretty sure the school got the message that you've got something against cedarians wearing anything other than chinese, malay and indian costumes,
so i don't think they'll wear any other next year.
ah but then again you need to show your 'power'.

another thing that is quite certainly unforgivable is that you shot off cheryl.
she was wearing her own national costume, dammit.
the very least that could have been done was to at least let her wear it.
but NOOOOO.
its like the same as saying, "hey you, i don't give a shit if you're from whatever country and if you're proud of your national costume. i want this, and i won't stand for any of this. to heck with your costume."

took as many pictures as i could while still in my yukata,
and thankfully tracy didn't bring home my cheong sam.
so i changed into it during recess and felt like a bride doing those clothes changing routines.
basically today was quite slack.
assembly was funny!
miss lizah's voice is so distinctive haha.
amusing way of presenting items, not bad!
