Thursday, February 28

alrighty, i shall start from where i left off in my last post.
i am officially a SRJCian now.
i think i'm quite proud of that. (:

okay, so school started last wednesday..
orientation was not worthy to be called orientation.
first 2 days were nothing but subject talks.
my butt died from sitting on the hard floor for more than 3 hours straight.
and it didn't help that the talks were dead boring.
then came the 3rd day.
there were supposedly 'physical activities' organised for us so we had to bring our PE attire.
but turns out that all we did was learn the college cheers, school song and college dance.
i realised that i had taken cedar's tradition of cheering loudly for granted.
because if the 5 cedarians in SRJC had cheered, we easily would've beaten the whole JC1 cohort.
ahhh i miss those days of shouting till my voice was hoarse.
anyway! our OGs existed for the sake of ensuring that we have a place to assemble when we arrive in school.
other than that, the OGs meant absolutely NOTHING.
so you can imagine the disappointment i felt when the facilitator said,
"our orientation has come to the end."
hopefully our class bonding shit during the march holidays will be fun.
if not, if i could swear i'd swear real loud.

so anyway lectures started this week,
and thankfully i have friends to accompany me to the lectures.
made new friends!
i just love my crazy group.
we're like a dysfunctional family luh.
tess, elisa, ona, weixin, nadiah, elle and i!
although they're all not from my OG, but yeah, we can get along so well!
and thank God i've got elle with me in SRJC..
if not i would've died from lonerising (if there's such a term).
pity none of them are taking my subject combination.
speaking of which, i counted and only 11 people are taking my combination!
with 4 people having english names, including me.
so i'm gonna have a really hard time remembering names come next week!
ah damn.

went for canoe training on monday..
did circuit training which was hell.
partly because i hadn't exercised in such a long time,
and also because canoe trainings are just damn tough.
shan't elaborate on how i suffered during training but basically my arms were rendered useless,
and my legs, shoulders and wing muscles are still sore and reeeeally painful.
but nonetheless, i survived.
the canoe team really gets a lot of respect, judging from the number of people who stared at us in awe as we shouted while we worked out.
the team's quite intimidating, actually.
but i suppose its part of their tradition.
to have that don't-mess-with-me attitude when training.
which is good, i suppose. but really a tad intimidating.

so i joined rocmoc training today.
luckily dear alvin was there so i made him get mryong to let us boulder while the rest conquered the high wall.
he's so cute and funny, gawd.
so he was teaching us and supervising us and all..
damn cute lah.
puay was there too! along with stella and sue may.
they're all so nice too.. and sue may let me wear her climbing shoes!
they really make a difference when you climb.
anyway i really enjoyed my time bouldering, although i only went once.
but according to alvin and the rest, i have the build to be a damn good climber, so hopefully i'll eventually be one!
haha gonna get puay to train me :D
i hope i get to know the rocmoc team soon!
they seem like a pretty nice, crazy bunch of people.
mryong's bringing us to yishun safra on friday!
i wanna boulder again. :DD

i don't think i'm gonna be getting a call from ACJC anymore.
but who cares.
if its what God wants for me, i'm totally fine with that.
besides, since ACJC doesn't need me, i don't need her either. (:

went for my first BSF lesson last night!
i'm quite ashamed of my attitude towards it before.
thank God i knew people in my class already, so it wasn't so bad.
and now i'm actually looking forward to next week's session!
thankyou, God!

i'm missing my churchies terribly. ):
all the best for your term exams tomorrow, faith!! xD

i must admit, what i heard that day didn't really surprise me.
i kind of thought that it happened.
i don't know how, but as i was wondering what was it that you wanted to tell me,
that thought crossed my mind.
though i brushed it off, there was still a possibility.
and i was right.
i wanted to cry, but obviously i couldn't.
if i had, it'd all be out.
so i held it all back and listened some more.
though one rouge tear managed to escape, but i stopped the rest from following suite.
i really didn't know what to say, but i'm just glad i was there for you.
and that you felt better after that.
whatever it is, it's good that you're alright now.

okay.
racheltan will do 10 pull-ups unaided by the end of this year.
whoo! :D

Tuesday, February 19

ahhhhhhhhhh tomorrow's the last stage in my JAE application process.
i can quite safely say that i'll be posted to SRJC.
but if God wills it, ACJC will accept my appeal and take me in!
and i will be the happiest girl singapore has ever seen.
although if God wants me in SRJC then i'll be happy too.
since its what He wants and boon was from that school and he made many good friends.
either way, i think i'm looking forward to orientation!
then i can finally see and experience what the hype is all about.
and i can make new friends!
i hope God blesses me with many good friends whom i can relate and get along with.
and i hope to be a blessing to the people around me in my new environment.

church on sunday was great as usual..
seeing my lovelies again, worshipping God and learning about Him..
i learnt that God is longsuffering!
because we humans are pathetic at being obedient to His word and forever sinning.
had lotsa fun in LG listening to justyn talk crap and teach.
he's in hongkong now, probably stuffing his face with dimsum.
wonder if his hypothesis that hongkong dimsum is tastier than s'pore dimsum is right.
well, i'll know the answer when he comes back on 2nd march which is ONE DAY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY heheheh. :D
and my brownies were a hit! whoohoo!
faith ate so many pieces hahaha.
and i only had one ):
i'll be baking more to bring next week, due to popular demand LOL.
baking's quite fun. (: as long as its not a cake i think i can handle.
hopefully i'll have time on saturday to bake some more..
considering that i may be really busy adjusting to JC life and all.

went to j8 after service for lunch with joce, shawn and jason!
i still don't know why joce wanted to go there though, that place is dead boring.
but anyway we had a good time talking and eating at pasta mania.
then shawn and jason left while joce and i roamed j8.
tried to look for new school shoes but i couldn't find any nice converse ones.
i think i'll stick to wearing asics.
well joce decided to get her nails done and we roamed j8 for another hour before it was her turn.
then we parted our ways and i went home.

and today!
well i woke up in the morning to the thoughts of rotting at home and doing nothing,
basically another day of stoning at home awaited me.
shawn's text of reminding me that he needed to fulfill his promise of bringing me to the zoo only served to make me feel even more sian.
because school is starting on wednesday and once it starts i'd be left with little time to go to the zoo.
so basically i was left with today.
and dear ol' wonderful shawn came up with the wonderful idea of going to the zoo immediately.
so i asked my parents and they said yes and voila the next thing i know, i'm waiting for His Majesty at AMK station.
so we took 138 from the interchange all the way to the zoo.
and passed kegan's house along the way.
i still don't know why shawn was so excited when we passed his house though.
but anyway when we arrived i was so shocked and surprised to see the zoo!
the entrance is waaaaay different from the last time i went.
which was... in primary school? haha.
but yeah i was really impressed.
so shawn was really nice enough to buy me a ticket with his staff discount (his attempts to smuggle me in for free failed) and we entered the realm of the animals!
i hardly recognised the place lah, they really spruced it up!
we walked and walked and walked, and gawked and gawked and gawked at the animals.
saw many many animals!
hippos, monkeys, butterflies, reptiles, CAPYBARAS, big cats, wolves, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, birds, seals, penguins, otters, beras, squirrels, bats, porcupines, matinees, pelicans, dogs, goats, rabbits, miniature horses, elephants and many many more!
and we even caught the dunno-what splash safari show and had a good laugh at a certain person.
*shakes head* LOL.
and we saw the white tigers, hippos, lions, sun bears and other animals during their feeding time!
my favourite was the white tigers.
they're so beautiful and majestic and OH-SO-LOVELY!
omar has my 101% support to be the zoo's next icon!
omar's the zoo's only male white tiger, for those who're clueless.
he's so handsome and regal..
AHHHH! xD
okay then we dragged our tired bodies to kfc which was tucked away in a corner of the zoo and had lunch.
i like that kfc.. it was so empty hahaha.
rushed to the kid's world to catch the kid's animal show comprising of 2 really funny animal keepers who will win the next oscar award and 2 dogs.
really childish show but at least i saw the dogs hahaha.
then we went back to the kid's play area to play in the big tub filled with plastic balls.
but alas, some stupid guy was standing at the entrance making sure that no person above 120cm played in the ball pit.
so shawn and i settled with the swings which were "suitable for children aged 2-6".
thankfully we didn't break the swings and left to conquer the rest of the zoo.
passed by ah meng's grave (it was a pile of soil) and shawn had his picture taken with a statue of ah meng.
there was an uncanny resemblence between the two HAHAHA.
walked in the fragile forest and saw many cute butterflies! ahh they're so pretty.
then we paid the alligators and false gavials a visit and reached the wolf enclosure in time to see them being ushered into their dens. -.-
so.. we ended our zoo trip walking around the retail shop and boarded the bus home.
all in all, i had TREMENDOUS FUN. (:
it really made my day, thank you shawn! x)

Saturday, February 16

okay i realised i haven't posted in a mighty long time.
so its about time i did so again.
let's see.. chinese new year was a bore.
and i fell sick on the first day of visiting! which really sucked.
so i was going from house to house sniffling like an idiot and feeling bummed up.
by the time i reached home i was half-dead.
plonked on the bed and KO-ed.
as a result i missed out on family dinner at dyson that night and lunch at my grandaunt's place the next day.
high fever and a cold really isn't fun to have, especially during the festive period.
but at least i didn't get my usual nasty dry coughs so i could still eat all those CNY goodies.

monday was wallace's farewell dinner at glutton's square..
ivan met me on the train and we hastily put together wallace's farewell present from all of us.
then we met the rest, i.e. sab, bong, esther and kathlyn at city hall and walked to our destination.
cam whored with sab for the duration of the walk and when we finally reached, our dear VIP wasn't even there yet.
so we sat and waited and he finally came.
ordered about $80+ worth of food and wallace was kind enough to pay for everything.
rather amusing, if you ask me.. he paid for his own farewell dinner.
well anyway we had fun chatting and gulping down 3 tables' worth of food.
wallace then had to leave to meet his other friends for supper while bong, esther and kathlyn went home.
ivan, sab and i walked to city link and sab bought some stuff for valentine's day.
then we went home!

speaking of valentine's day..
i was supposed to go out with dear sweeleng but her dad didn't allow her to go out so in the end..
i spent valentine's day by myself at home.
and i realised how much i miss those craze-filled valentine's days in school
where everyone's giving everyone lil gifts of sweets and chocolates.
and me giving those i love my lil' handmade gifts.
this year though, i was lazy to do research and think of something to make and give.
not like i had many people to give stuff to anyway.
but nonetheless i put some little knick-knacks together in a box and gave that to my loved ones along with a cactus.
sorry leng and sab if you're reading this before you get your present.
hahaha.

then yesterday! one day post-valentine's day..
i went out with my lovelies! i.e. faith, joce and shawn. (:
met up with shawn after his paper ended first and we went to watch jumper at plaze sing.
i got so bored during the show, its nothing much.
after that while i brooded over my wasted money, shawn decided to go eat lunch at long john's.
along the way down i saw charlene and another ex-cedarian and jessie!
and i was amused.
ate lunch and talked nonsense.. A LOT of nonsense, actually.
and its seriously damn funny to argue with shawn, really.
LIARS GO TO HELL! ahahah.
then faith finally came! and we crapped some more.
i had to go to the toilet and the walk back from the toilet, i saw 6 other people.
gracemary and jesiska, audrie and natalie (weird combination if you ask me) and kaiqi and my primary school friend.
i was so freaked out. it was like some mass JC outing or something, i kept seeing JC people!
haha so anyway faith got figety so we went to spotlight and they got some stuff.
went to gelare for ice-cream and I SAW ANT!
it was so good to see her again, after so long! ahaha. (:
then the 3 of us shared a bowl of 5 ice-cream flavours while faith and i pleaded with shawn to wait for joce to come.
but he couldn't wait and left for work.
and just as he was leaving i heard a voice say from behind, "hey, where's shawn going?"
i turned around and saw.. JOCE! yes she finally came!
so faith and my pleads didn't go to waste.
so shawn and joce say HI-BYE and joce helped us finish our ice-cream.
walked over to cathay for joce to get a notebook and saw kwangster there with her friends..
spotted abel at first and then sab! and i was even more amused.
then the 3 of us sat at starbucks and chatted and swooned over their cacti and joce had to leave.
so faith and i walked back to plaza sing and faith bought a $2 tank top from carrefour so that we could go to the arcade.
planted ourselves in front of the touch-screen machine and proceeded to spend $4 on the games.
by the time we left our backs were absolutely dying from sitting on the stools hahaha.
then we figured that the $2 tank top from carrefour was actually really good and so we went down again to buy one for myself.
then i bought dinner and we went our ways.
all in all i had an awesome time hanging out with the 3 of them again, just like in lahu!
sharing our (very honest) opinions about people, as faith so aptly put it.
i'm missing their company already, gee.
in total.. i think i saw like 10 over people i knew yesterday.
talk about record-setting man. hahaha!

and today i spent the day doing nothing.
except for baking brownies in the afternoon..
speaking of which, my brownies are awesome!
though i have yet to try them because they're still cooling down.
but they smell good! which is good enough for me ahahaha (:

alrighty, i hope brian's surviving the jungle!
he's got 6 more days to go, that poor sod.

Sunday, February 3

i am sooooooooooo tired.
i haven't felt this way in almost a year!
went for ACJC's badminton training yesterday with chris,
and i exercised and sweated more than i did in the past year ever since i stopped training.
i must say, it felt good to be training again.
although i was seriously out of shape and kinda slow moving.
but considering how i didn't touch badminton in such a long time,
i think i played pretty well.
could have played worse, but i didn't, thank God.

so we walked up to the sports hall with our hearts in our mouths,
and met the captain of the girl's team - xiujuan.
introduced ourselves and got ready to warm up.
after warming up... chris and i went to stroke in the court furthest away from everyone.
haha not because we were anti-social,
we just didn't want to embarrass ourselves in front of everyone.
then we had to play a doubles match against 2 seniors, i can't remember who..
and we lost. but at least we didn't lose that badly.
pity we only played one set, i would have wanted to improve in the second.
after that we played against another pair, and we won the first set.
unfortunately due to our reeeeeeally bad stamina, we lost the second set.
but there was no rubber set so it was a draw. darn.
after that chris and i went to do some attacking and defending drill,
and soon 2 seniors came to do it with us.
one's gen and she's faith's classmate.. she's really nice. (:
ohyeah, speaking of faith, she was nice enough to stay back and see me come for training!
and she stayed throughout training too.
even helped to cheer us on and pick shuttles.
ohyes, and most importantly, refilling my waterbottle!
haha she was a real life-saver!
the coach made chris and i join in some mad crazy drill,
where he would fake and throw shuttles for us to hit at the speed of light.
so most of the time chris and i were lunging for shuttles that had already hit the floor. -.-
the coach was nice though, at least he didn't scold or anything, and he still joked around with us.
to end off the training, we had P.T.
AND IT WAS A KILLER.
we line jumped the width of 3 courts,
going there on our right leg, and then backwards on the same leg.
then repating it with our left, and doing 20 push-ups.
we repeated this 5 times, doing sit-ups, dorsal raises, star jumps, split jumps and squats.
and we all DIED.
after that we still had to do suicides, but thankfully it was only one set.
so i gave it my all and actually finished P.T. alive.
i thought i had died and gone to heaven, actually.
but the sheer exhaustion that i felt brought me back to reality.
then, chris and i dragged our tired bodies out of the hall to sit by the swimming pool to breathe in the fresh evening air.
it was really refreshing!
then we went back to warm down with the seniors.
had a good time talking and joking with them..
really helped that dear faith was there too.
i really like the seniors, they're a nice bunch of people.
although i didn't manage to catch everyone's names..
but yeah. gen, mae and xiujuan are really nice!
and that other girl in white whose name was never mentioned to me..
hopefully chris and i will be given the honour to be in the same team as them. (:

faith and chris walked me out to the main gate where my parents were waiting..
and along the way faith and i sang our favourite duet!
after so long, it really felt so good..
especially to sing it with someone else.
singing it to yourself is really no fun at all.
i saw lilin too! before i got into the car..
really nice to see her again.
we added a bit to the noise pollution level when we saw each other (think screaming girls)
but i couldn't talk for long.
had a nice (but rushed) dinner at tampopo..
the hot ramen soup rejuvenated my tired soul.
and the cube beef steak was simply fab.

i woke up this morning to a seriously immobile body.
i tried to do my usual morning stretch, and was instead greeted by painful objections from my muscles.
DAMN PAIN CAN.
so i got out of bed (with much difficulty) and took a shower (with much difficulty) and walked down the stairs for breakfast (with much difficulty).
basically i can't walk properly and neither can i bend down without my muscles screaming cold-blooded murder.
i just hope my muscles recover by monday,
in case chris and i get called up to go for training again.

poor brian is sick..
he couldn't finish his bowl of ramen last night and felt cold throughout the car journey.
which is something most unlike a healthy brian i know.
he had a fever when we got back last night, and this morning he has developed a cough.
the fever persisted slighty throughout the day and he basically was kinda bummed out.
looks like his body's taking a toll on him, after 3 weeks of BMT.
hopefully he'll recover soon.
and hopefully his sergeants in tekong will cut him some slack during next week's training.
luckily its a short week next week.. because of CNY.

speaking of which, i'm so happy i've done my CNY shopping!
all online too.
although it was all tops..
i gotta get more skirts i tell you.
i hope my necklaces come soon, i wanna see my little pony!!
kyahh. :D

wouldn't it be so cool if we were in the same school together?
finally, after wishing for that for years.. (:
